Job summary

Infrared City GmbH is a venture-backed climate-tech startup building its first sales function in Austria. We are seeking a driven Business Developer to own pipeline generation and help close our first enterprise deals, with B2Gov or enterprise SaaS experience.

You will work directly with founders, operate with high autonomy, and shape outbound campaigns, stakeholder conversations, and GTM messaging to win municipalities and infrastructure operators.

Qualifications

• Experience closing or progressing deals with government, municipalities, or infrastructure clients through complex procurement.
• Demonstrated ability to generate and manage your own pipeline — comfortable with experimentation and rapid iteration.
• Domain familiarity with climate tech, PropTech, SaaS infrastructure, or selling to property/infrastructure/government sectors.

Responsibilities

• Drive enterprise pipeline by engaging warm leads and developing new ones across target segments — municipalities, infrastructure operators, and technology platforms.
• Support and progress deal cycles by navigating B2G and B2B procurement processes and managing multi-stakeholder conversations through to close.
• Test and iterate on go-to-market messaging including qualification criteria and outreach approaches across customer tiers.
• Establish outbound engine through targeted campaigns, strategic partnerships, and account development.
• Gather market intelligence by running discovery conversations, capturing buying triggers and pain points, and feeding insights back to the founding team.
• Support case study development from progressed deals to accelerate future sales cycles.

Your Mission

You will work directly with our founders and have high autonomy to build, test, and iterate. Here's what you'll do:

• The minimum gross annual salary for this position is €45,738. Actual salary depends on qualifications and experience.

Essential Experience:

• B2Gov or Enterprise Sales: Experience closing or progressing deals with government, municipalities, or infrastructure clients through complex procurement processes
• Pipeline Ownership: Demonstrated ability to generate and manage your own pipeline — comfortable with experimentation, rapid iteration, and learning from failures
• Domain Familiarity: Experience in climate tech, PropTech, SaaS infrastructure, or selling to property/infrastructure/government sectors with understanding of sustainability and environmental data buying drivers

Nice to have:

• Existing network in municipalities, infrastructure operators, or the PropTech ecosystem
• Experience with API-based SaaS products or data platforms
• Background in consultative selling where discovery and customisation matter
• Experience contributing to or building sales team processes and collateral

Role Context:

Company Stage: Venture-backed early-stage startup with proprietary environmental simulation technology

Product: AI-powered dashboards and insights for built environment decisions — targeting municipalities, Digital Twins platform R&D, and Mobility platform R&D

Current State: First sales hire. Founders involved in key conversations. Warm leads exist but pipeline needs building.

Reporting: Direct collaboration with founders. High autonomy with visibility — major strategic decisions require founder alignment.

Location: Remote-friendly with occasional travel for key meetings; based in Vienna preferred but not required
