CycloTech GmbH in Linz is seeking an experienced Aerodynamics Engineer to design and optimize CycloRotor units from concept through testing. You will develop CFD validation plans and contribute to experimental verification, supporting aeroelastic considerations and aero-structural interfaces.

The role requires a Master’s in aerospace or mechanical engineering, 10+ years in aerodynamics, and strong communication skills.

Qualificações

• Master's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering with strong focus in fluids & aerodynamics.
• 10+ years of professional experience in aerodynamics design and development across propulsion, airframe or vehicle aerodynamics.
• Strong understanding of aerodynamics design challenges, simulation, correlation and validation, and system integration at vehicle level.

Responsabilidades

• Aerodynamic design and optimization of CycloRotor units, from concept design to testing and validation.
• Validation and correlation plans, mainly CFD simulations, plus experimental validation and measurement setup considerations.
• Simulation methodology development.
• Contribute to defining and assessing aerodynamic performance targets for various CycloRotor units.
• Collaborate with structural and mechanical engineers to optimize aero-structural interfaces and mechanisms.
• Support knowledge development in Flight Physics by defining processes, interfaces, and best practices.

Job Description

• Aerodynamic design and optimization of CycloRotor units, from conceptual design to testing and validation.


• Validation and correlation plans, mainly involving CFD simulations, but also on the experimental counterpart, in terms of measurement setup and quality or aeroelastic influences.


• Simulation methodology development.


• Contribute to the definition and assessment of aerodynamic performance targets for various CycloRotor units.


• Collaborate with structural and mechanical engineers to optimize the structural-aerodynamic interface, including loads, aeroelastic deformations and the realization of mechanisms to fulfill the desired aerodynamic behavior of the CycloRotor.


• Support the continued development of knowledge within the Flight Physics Department by applying your expertise to define processes, interfaces, and best practices for system performance, aerodynamic development, simulation, testing, and validation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering with strong focus in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics or related field.


• 10+ years of professional experience working in areas related to aerodynamics design and development, either propulsion systems, airframe or vehicle aerodynamic design.


• Strong understanding of the challenges and interfaces involving aerodynamics design and optimization, including simulation, correlation and validation, interfaces with mechanical and structural requirements, especially in terms of system integration at a vehicle/platform level to optimize flight and mission performance.


• Basic knowledge of Python scripting and Linux environments.


• Hands on experience in validation of CFD simulations and experimental results.


• Experience with OpenFOAM is desired.


• The following will be considered as additional assets:




• Experience with aeroacoustics, especially for rotorcraft.


• Experience with aeroelastic analysis or fluid-structure interaction


• Experience with wind tunnel testing


• Previous experience in aerodynamic design for aerospace certifiable propulsion systems.




• Excellent ability to explain complex topics in a clear and accessible manner.
