Zusammenfassung

CycloTech GmbH in Linz seeks a Senior Rotor Aerodynamics Engineer to drive aerodynamic design and optimization of CycloRotor propulsion systems from concept to validation. You will work with aerodynamics, flight physics, mechanical and testing engineers to deliver robust performance.

Responsibilities include CFD validation plans, experimental correlation, methodology development, and collaboration to meet aero performance targets.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering with strong focus in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics, or related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in aerodynamics design and development, propulsion systems, airframe or vehicle aerodynamic design.
• Strong understanding of design and optimization interfaces, CFD validation, and system integration.
• Basic knowledge of Python scripting and Linux environments.
• Hands-on experience validating CFD simulations and experimental results.
• Experience with OpenFOAM is desired.
• Additional assets: aeroacoustics, aeroelastic analysis, wind tunnel testing, certifiable propulsion systems experience.
• Excellent ability to explain complex topics clearly.
• Analytical and solution-oriented mindset.

Job Description

As a Senior Rotor Aerodynamics Engineer, you will play a key role in the aerodynamic design and in the development and optimization of CycloRotor propulsion systems. Your expertise will be required at all development stages, from conceptual design to testing and validation. You will work closely with aerodynamics, flight physics, mechanical, structural and testing engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Aerodynamic design and optimization of CycloRotor units, from conceptual design to testing and validation.
• Validation and correlation plans, mainly involving CFD simulations, but also on the experimental counterpart, in terms of measurement setup and quality or aeroelastic influences.
• Simulation methodology development.
• Contribute to the definition and assessment of aerodynamic performance targets for various CycloRotor units.
• Collaborate with structural and mechanical engineers to optimize the structural-aerodynamic interface, including loads, aeroelastic deformations and the realization of mechanisms to fulfill the desired aerodynamic behavior of the CycloRotor.
• Support the continued development of knowledge within the Flight Physics Department by applying your expertise to define processes, interfaces, and best practices for system performance, aerodynamic development, simulation, testing, and validation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering with strong focus in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics or related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience working in areas related to aerodynamics design and development, either propulsion systems, airframe or vehicle aerodynamic design.
• Strong understanding of the challenges and interfaces involving aerodynamics design and optimization, including simulation, correlation and validation, interfaces with mechanical and structural requirements, especially in terms of system integration at a vehicle/platform level to optimize flight and mission performance.
• Basic knowledge of Python scripting and Linux environments.
• Hands on experience in validation of CFD simulations and experimental results.
• Experience with OpenFOAM is desired.
• The following will be considered as additional assets:
  • Experience with aeroacoustics, especially for rotorcraft.
  • Experience with aeroelastic analysis or fluid-structure interaction
  • Experience with wind tunnel testing
  • Previous experience in aerodynamic design for aerospace certifiable propulsion systems.
• Excellent ability to explain complex topics in a clear and accessible manner.
