The University of Vienna invites applications for the Full Professor of Arabic Studies, focusing on linguistics, with a proven record of international excellence. The successful candidate will cover Classical Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, Middle Arabic, and dialects, and contribute to research initiatives such as the Vienna Corpus of Arabic Varieties (VICAV).

Formación

• PhD required with outstanding international reputation.
• Proven ability to lead large research projects and secure funding.
• Excellent teaching and supervision across bachelor, master and doctoral levels.
• Demonstrated leadership and governance experience in an academic setting.
• Commitment to gender and diversity in academia.
• Willingness to take on organisational responsibilities within the faculty and university.

Responsabilidades

• Represent Arabic Studies in research and teaching across programs.
• Offer courses in Classical Arabic and Modern Arabic and related topics.
• Contribute to BA Oriental Studies, MA Arab World Studies, and MA Arabic Linguistics.
• Contribute to the Faculty’s doctoral program and VICAV initiatives.
• Provide supervision of doctoral students and lead large research initiatives.
