Placements24 is seeking a Senior Network Security Analyst for a fully remote role, allowing work from anywhere within South Africa. The ideal candidate will protect network infrastructure, implement robust security measures, and respond to incidents in a fast-paced telecoms environment.

The role requires 7+ years in network security, strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, and hands-on experience with SIEM tools like Splunk or QRadar, as well as firewalls and vulnerability scanners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in network security analysis, operations, or engineering.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S) and common network architectures.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM (Splunk, QRadar), IDS/IPS, firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), and vulnerability scanners (Nessus, Qualys).

Responsibilities

• Monitor network traffic and security logs for suspicious activities and threats using SIEM and other tools.
• Investigate, analyze, and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain network security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses.
• Configure and manage firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint security solutions.
• Stay current with emerging cyber threats and security technologies.
• Provide security awareness training to IT staff and end-users.
• Collaborate with IT and engineering to embed security in designs.
• Perform regular security audits and compliance checks.
• Contribute to incident response plans and disaster recovery strategies.
• Mentor junior analysts and enhance security posture.
