Funstage in Vienna is seeking a Senior .NET Backend Developer to turn game concepts into scalable backend services for our social casino games. You’ll design distributed systems, optimize data pipelines, and ship real-time features that players rely on.

You’ll work with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, and GraphQL/REST APIs, contribute to CI/CD, and integrate frontend teams via a shared Vue.js admin panel. The team values collaboration, learning, and high-quality code.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with .NET technologies, with .NET 5+ preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with REST, GraphQL and WebSockets.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and cloud-native tech.
• Ability to build distributed, scalable backend systems.

As a Senior .NET Backend Developer, this is a chance to turn great game ideas into reality, tackle exciting challenges at scale, and see your work make a real difference to the player experience. From idea to production, there’s plenty of room to shape how things are built, bring fresh ideas to the table, and have fun solving tricky technical problems along the way.

Analyse

• Turn technical discussions and stakeholder feedback, including insights from Customer Support and CRM, into clear, actionable requirements and practical solutions
• Explore, evaluate, and manage libraries and tools that help the team choose the right solution for each project

Develop

• Design and build optimised distributed backend systems and real-time gaming features capable of handling hundreds of thousands of operations per second and up to 50.000 simultaneous players
• Create and optimise databases and ETL pipelines to keep data reliable and systems performing at their best
• Bring new features to life in our Vue.js Admin Panel by implementing their configuration

Test

• Create and maintain automated and performance tests that keep features reliable under pressure
• Develop and maintain Vue.js Test-Client features that make backend features easy to test and validate

Deploy

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and fast, reliable rollback strategies
• Work with web and mobile frontend teams to integrate backend services seamlessly across their platforms

Maintain

• Build and continuously improve Kubernetes infrastructure and monitoring across Azure and local development environments
• Maintain security protocols covering user roles, access controls, encryption, and security updates
• Document incidents from root cause through resolution and post-mortem analysis, turning issues into opportunities to improve
• Share your expertise with your colleagues and improve the overall team quality

Tools

• Technologies: .NET 10, Vue.js, GraphQL via Hasura, WebSockets via SignalR, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Redis, OpenTelemetry, and Identity Server

• Quality comes built in. Unit tests and Gherkin-based acceptance tests are part of our definition of done and are kept up to date
• Keep it simple. We follow the YAGNI principle, avoiding unnecessary complexity and focusing on solid, evolvable architectures
• Own the full picture. Everyone builds a strong understanding of our Kubernetes components and CI/CD, so infrastructure knowledge is shared across the team

Your profile

• Professional experience working with .NET technologies, with .NET 5+ experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of database technologies, with experience across SQL and NoSQL preferred
• Familiarity with the API technologies that connect our backend to frontend experiences, including REST, GraphQL, and WebSockets
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies
• Understanding of distributed systems and the challenges of building technology capable of supporting millions of players worldwide
• Capable of building event-driven systems using message buses like Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Azure Service Bus
• Strong product thinking, with the ability to turn stakeholder needs into clear and effective technical requirements
• Collaborative mindset with experience in pair programming, team workshops, knowledge sharing, and supporting the growth of others
• Agile mindset and a pragmatic approach to building solid, evolvable solutions
• Confident communicating and collaborating in English, both written and spoken
