Partner Company in Austria seeks a senior Linux Platform Engineering leader to own enterprise Linux platforms across on‑prem and cloud, driving automation, security, and reliability at scale. You will shape strategy, architecture, and lifecycle management, coordinating across storage, network, and security teams while mentoring others.

This role emphasizes ownership of platform outcomes, engineering standards, and continuous modernization, including incident leadership and DevOps culture

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 7–10+ years engineering and operating Linux platforms in enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in SUSE Linux / RHEL and large-scale deployments.
• Proficiency with Bash and Python scripting; Perl is a plus.
• Experience designing automation and IaC with tools like Ansible, Terraform, Puppet.
• Strong virtualization experience with VMware vSphere.
• Networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, VPN.
• Experience with storage (SAN/NAS/RAID) integrations.
• Proven monitoring/observability experience (Datadog, Dynatrace).
• Security hardening, patching, and compliance understanding.
• Desirable RHCE / LPIC-3; cloud exposure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with containers: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift; SRE exposure is a plus.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise apps including Oracle RAC.

Aufgaben

• Own the enterprise Linux platform roadmap and lifecycle management.
• Define engineering standards, platform build patterns, and reliability-focused processes.
• Design scalable Linux solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Act as technical authority for compute, virtualization, storage, and core Linux services.
• Lead architecture discussions and design reviews for Linux platforms.
• Drive automation and IaC with Ansible, Terraform, Bash, and Python.
• Develop reusable automation frameworks and self-service platform modules.
• Champion platform engineering and DevOps practices across teams.
• Own availability, performance, capacity, resilience, and recoverability per SLAs.
• Establish monitoring and observability standards (Datadog, Dynatrace).
• Lead root-cause analysis for complex incidents and implement fixes.
• Ensure backup/recovery and disaster recovery are designed and tested.
• Embed security-by-design in Linux architecture and operations.
• Maintain security baselines and audit-ready practices.
• Collaborate with storage, network, and vendor teams on integrated solutions.
• Translate risks into business impact for stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and raise platform engineering maturity.
• Promote automation and continuous improvement.
