Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Senior Accountant to manage accounting operations in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on financial reporting, general ledger management, and month-end close to ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance.

You will oversee GL, bank reconciliations, audits support, budgeting and forecasting, and mentor junior staff. A Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance is required, with a CA(SA)/ACCA/CIMA preferred, and at least five years of progressive accounting

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with IFRS, financial reporting and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in SAP, Oracle or Pastel and advanced Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy with excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Reconcile bank statements and various general ledger accounts.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) and relevant regulations.
• Develop and implement improved accounting policies and procedures.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Mentor and guide junior accounting staff.
