JobCubby partners with a global Ubuntu security engineering team based in Austria to strengthen and protect open source software. You will investigate vulnerabilities across the Ubuntu ecosystem, audit code, and help deliver robust security fixes through collaboration with engineers and upstream developers.

The role blends hands-on security engineering with development, tooling, and vulnerability research, contributing to the security of widely used Linux technologies.

Qualifikationen

• Strong understanding of common software security vulnerabilities and attack techniques.
• Familiarity with coordinated vulnerability disclosure practices and responsible security communication.
• Experience with open source development tools and workflows.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Experience with Linux, ideally Ubuntu or Debian-based environments.

Aufgaben

• Analyse, investigate, fix, and test vulnerabilities affecting open source packages within the Ubuntu ecosystem.
• Monitor and track vulnerabilities using internal security tools and processes.
• Collaborate with engineers, upstream developers, and the open source community to develop and validate security patches.
• Audit source code to identify security weaknesses and potential vulnerabilities.
• Design and develop features and internal tools to improve security across products.
