Jobgether presents a partner-led opportunity for an Ubuntu Software Engineer based in Switzerland. You will contribute across Ubuntu engineering, from foundational systems to desktop platforms and archive maintenance.

You will design, build, package, test, and ship software serving millions of users worldwide, collaborating with Rust, Go, Python, Flutter, or C/C++. This role blends hands-on engineering with open source community involvement.

Qualifikationen

• 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience after completing university.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related discipline, or a compelling alternative background.
• Strong academic performance and drive to exceed expectations.
• Hands-on experience with at least one of Rust, Go, Python, Flutter, or C/C++.
• Genuine passion for open source software and an interest in contributing to large-scale open source projects.
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English with excellent communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Design, develop, test, and ship new foundational systems software and applications.
• Package, integrate, test, maintain, and upload open source software to Ubuntu repositories using Debian and Snap packaging mechanisms.
• Engineer integrations across the software stack from boot firmware to cloud deployments.
• Build and maintain automation and engineering infrastructure for building, testing, and shipping Ubuntu.
• Contribute to maintenance and quality of a Linux distribution and its repositories.
• Investigate and resolve system-level issues delivering reliable, robust solutions.
• Document technical solutions and contribute to upstream open source projects.
• Collaborate within a globally distributed organization and mentor colleagues.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and software delivery quality.
