Jobgether is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a globally distributed Linux kernel team focused on Ubuntu-based environments and related open source projects. The role balances technical depth with people and project management responsibilities across cloud, server, desktop, and IoT platforms.

The candidate will drive kernel reliability, security, and performance while mentoring engineers and coordinating with hardware and cloud partners. International travel is expected twice a year.

Qualifikationen

• Senior software engineer or tech lead with strong interest in moving into management.
• Strong background in systems software, C, and operating systems.
• Experience with Linux kernel development is valued.
• Mentor engineers and lead complex technical initiatives.
• Excellent written and spoken English; able to present ideas clearly.
• Willing to travel internationally twice a year for company events.

Aufgaben

• Transition from individual contributor to full-time people and project management.
• Lead and develop a globally distributed team of Linux kernel engineers.
• Oversee delivery, testing, maintenance, and evolution of Linux kernels across platforms.
• Maintain high standards for software quality, security, reliability, and performance.
• Develop and execute team strategies aligned with product roadmaps.
• Collaborate with silicon vendors, cloud providers, and internal teams for new capabilities.
• Own kernel release cycles and update cadences for the portfolio.
• Guide complex projects and resolve systems-level problems.
• Foster an open source culture focused on feedback and excellence.
