Qualifikationen

• Abgeschlossenes Doktorat oder gleichwertiger Hochschulabschluss in Lebensmittelwissenschaften, Schwerpunkt Lebensmittelphysik.
• Ausgeprägte Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse (schriftlich und mündlich).
• Fundierte Kenntnisse in Lebensmittelphysik und Rheologie, Verarbeitung von Getreide und Teig.

Aufgaben

• Forschung in Lebensmittelphysik, Lebensmittelmikrobiologie, insbesondere Getreidewissenschaft und -verarbeitung.
• Präsentation von Forschungsergebnissen in Deutsch und Englisch bei wissenschaftlichen und nicht-wissenschaftlichen Veranstaltungen.
• Lehre im Bereich Lebensmittelqualitätsprüfung & Lebensmittelphysik in Deutsch und Englisch; Betreuung von Abschlussarbeiten.
• Eigenständige Planung und Umsetzung von Forschungsprojekten.
• Verfassen wissenschaftlicher Publikationen.
• Wissenstransfer und Förderung junger Wissenschaftler gemäß sozialer Verantwortung.
• Übernahme administrativer Aufgaben im Rahmen der universitären Selbstverwaltung.
• Mitwirkung an aktuellen Forschungsbereichen des Instituts und Zusammenarbeit mit internen/externen Partnern.

Offer Description

The Department of Biotechnology and Food Science, Institute of Food Science is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (temporary replacement).

Extent of employment:40hours per week
Duration of employment:20th of December 2026, limited to 28th of February 2027
Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 lit. b
Gross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: €5.014,30
(payable 14 times per year)

Responsibilities

• Research in the fields of food physics and food microbiology with a focus on cereal science and processing as well as product characterisation
• Presentation of research results at scientific and non-scientific events in German and English
• University teaching in the field of food quality assurance & food physics in German and English (exercises, seminars, lectures) and supervision or co-supervision of theses within the scope of the legal possibilities
• Independent planning and realisation of research projects
• Writing of scientific publications
• Knowledge transfer and promotion of junior scientists in line with the social responsibility of the BOKU University
• Taking over of administrative activities within the framework of university self-administration
• Participation in the current research areas of the institute as well as willingness to cooperate with internal and external partners to strengthen the BOKU

Required skills and qualifications

• Doctorate degree / PhD in Food Science and Technology, with a focus on food physics
• Diploma degree in Food Science and Technology, with a focus on food physics or other equivalent university degree
• Excellent German and English skills (written and spoken)
• Knowledge in food physics and rheology, characterisation and processing of cereal raw materials with particular focus on dough rheology and fermentation
• Solid foundation in general rheology
• Experience in the processing of scientific projects (proposal research)
• Experience in research with polymers especially dietary fibres and proteins, as well as their enzymatic modification
• Strong team work and communication skills
• Initiative ans responsible working style
• Experience as a lecturer (food physics/food microbiology) in university teaching (proof of didactic skills required)

Desired skills and qualifications

• Experience in conducting research projects
• Experience in conducting microbiological analyses and fermentative processes in the field of grain processing
• High social competence, reliability and independence
