IIASA in Laxenburg, Austria invites applications for a Researcher (R1) or Research Scholar (R2) to advance the Pathways workstream within the Exploring Real Zero project. You will collaborate with co-leads to identify innovation gaps and quantify residual gross emissions across IAMs, coordinating modelling teams and publishing results.

The role requires a strong background in energy systems and integrated assessment modelling, with programming in Python and experience in IAMC data.

Qualifikationen

• Masters or PhD in energy systems, climate or environmental science, engineering, economics or related field.
• Proven ability in IAMC-format data and related modelling frameworks.
• Experience writing methodologies and results in reports or papers.
• Fluency in English with strong presentation skills.

Aufgaben

• Lead cross-model analyses to identify innovation gaps and quantify residual emissions.
• Develop analytics for modelling protocol and document harmonized assumptions.
• Spearhead cross-model synthesis comparing new pathways with literature.
• Embed guardrails into scenario parameterization across modelling teams.
• Contribute to / lead written outputs including reports and scientific papers.
• Present methods and results to technical and non-technical audiences.
