Job summary

4a engineering GmbH is seeking a Lead Software Engineer .NET to shape the architecture and future development of advanced software for materials testing and simulation. The role is based in Traboch, Austria, with up to 20% remote work and a hybrid setup.

You will lead modernization, modularization, and integration of new measurement hardware, while mentoring the team and applying AI-assisted development practices.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in leading architecture and modernization of complex desktop software.
• Strong ability to design modular architectures and migrate to modern .NET technologies.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing, CI/CD, reproducible builds, code reviews, and software documentation.
• Experience integrating hardware interfaces and data formats into software solutions.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Technical Ownership: Gain deep expertise in the software and serve as the go-to expert for architecture, design, and code quality.
• Architectural Modernization: Define target vision and roadmap, and drive the modernization journey step by step.
• Platform Evolution: Lead modularization, separate UI, business logic, and data access layers, migrate to modern .NET technologies, replace legacy components.
• Quality & Engineering Excellence: Establish automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, reproducible builds, code reviews, and documentation.
• Product Development: Design and implement new features with materials testing and simulation experts, integrate new measurement hardware and data formats.
• Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Guide developers and promote knowledge sharing across teams.
• AI-Driven Software Engineering: Use Claude Code and GitHub Copilot for code analysis, refactoring, testing, and documentation.
