Job summary

The University of Innsbruck invites applications for a Recognised Researcher (R2) in Historical Archaeology. The role centers on independent research, interdisciplinary source analysis using digital methods, and collaboration within the Historical Archaeology group.

Responsibilities include teaching BA/MA courses, publishing, and securing external funding; supervision of theses and organisation of conferences; and active participation in academic self-governance.

Qualifications

PhD in archaeology with a dissertation focusing on Historical Archaeology or Contemporary Archaeology.
Demonstrated research activities in the historical archaeology of the recent past in Central Europe.
Experience in organising and carrying out field research projects as well as transfer-oriented projects.
Experience in developing methodologies for historical archaeology and digital archaeology (data management, GIS) is desirable.
Potential links to the research priorities of the Chair of Historical Archaeology are desirable.
Experience in securing external funding is desirable.
Initial experience in university teaching and supervising student theses is desirable.

Responsibilities

Independent research in historical archaeology, with a focus on social archaeology and digital methods of interdisciplinary source analysis
Collaboration on projects run by the Chair of Historical Archaeology (helping to develop new methodological and theoretical approaches; devising project concepts in line with the research priorities of the Historical Archaeology research group)
Independent publication and lecturing activities
Securing external funding
Contributing to the organisation of conferences and knowledge transfer events, as well as academic self-governance
Independent teaching and conducting examinations within the BA and MA "Archaeologies" curriculum in the field of Historical Archaeology (Middle Ages to the present day); (co-)supervision of student theses
