Job summary

The University of Innsbruck invites applications for a Recognised Researcher (R2) in Historical Archaeology. The role centers on independent research, interdisciplinary source analysis using digital methods, and collaboration within the Historical Archaeology group.

Responsibilities include teaching BA/MA courses, publishing, and securing external funding; supervision of theses and organisation of conferences; and active participation in academic self-governance.

Qualifications

  • PhD in archaeology with a dissertation focusing on Historical Archaeology or Contemporary Archaeology.
  • Demonstrated research activities in the historical archaeology of the recent past in Central Europe.
  • Experience in organising and carrying out field research projects as well as transfer-oriented projects.
  • Experience in developing methodologies for historical archaeology and digital archaeology (data management, GIS) is desirable.
  • Potential links to the research priorities of the Chair of Historical Archaeology are desirable.
  • Experience in securing external funding is desirable.
  • Initial experience in university teaching and supervising student theses is desirable.

  • Completed doctoral or PhD studies in an archaeological discipline with a dissertation focusing on Historical Archaeology or Contemporary Archaeology

  • Experience in organising and carrying out field research projects as well as transfer-oriented projects
  • Experience in developing methodologies for historical archaeology and digital archaeology (data management, geographic information systems) is desirable
  • Potential links to the research priorities of the Chair of Historical Archaeology are desirable
  • Experience in securing external funding is desirable
  • Initial experience in university teaching and supervising student theses is desirable
  • Strong ability to work in a team, excellent communication skills and organisational talent
Languages
