Zusammenfassung

The University of Vienna invites applications for an Excavation Technician in the Department of Prehistory and Historical Archaeology. You will support fieldwork administration, documentation, and reporting for teaching and research excavations in building research.

You will contribute to presentations, plans, and courses, using total stations, drones and GIS tools, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in Vienna.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Prehistory and Historical Archaeology by appointment date.
• Knowledge of medieval and modern archaeology through training or projects.
• Experience in stratigraphic excavations with Harris matrices.
• Knowledge of surveying, digital documentation, and GIS/CAD.
• Experience in administration and reporting of excavations.
• Image-based modelling experience with drones preferred.
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary research projects.
• Proficiency in German (C1) and English (B2).
• Category B driving licence.

Aufgaben

• Assist the Chair of Historical Archaeology with fieldwork administration and execution.
• Organise, conduct, document and report teaching and research excavations.
• Prepare plans for archaeological building documentation (including photos).
• Participate in teaching excavations and building research courses.
• Provide technical supervision of excavation and manage artefact records.
• Work with total station and image-based modelling tools on site.
