speech in Vienna seeks a Head of Software QA to own and evolve our quality function across SpeechLive on mobile, desktop, web, and hardware integrations. You will lead a global QA organization, set strategy, and partner with CTO, Head of Product, and Head of Software Development to drive quality across releases.

You will hire, mentor, and grow QA engineers, foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement, and ensure clear risk communication to leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of QA engineering experience with leadership.
• Solid people leadership: developing QA engineers and giving feedback.
• Experience building culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Hands-on testing background and leadership across levels.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with multi-platform SaaS, automation architecture, CI/CD, API testing, and end-to-end strategy.
• Experience in voice or speech technology is a plus.

Are you an experienced Software QA leader who combines a strategic mindset with genuine hands-on involvement and technical credibility? Do you know how to build a quality culture that reaches across engineering, product, and leadership - and can you bring a clear, honest picture of quality risk into conversations that shape how we build and ship?
We are looking for a Head of QA to own and evolve our quality function as we continue to grow our speech recognition and voice productivity portfolio across multiple platforms and international markets.

What you’ll do:

• You will take full ownership of our QA function, overseeing it end‑to‑end;


• Manage the QA team in the full cycle - hiring, developing & mentoring engineers - at all levels through pairing, reviews & direct feedback;


• Work in close partnership with our CTO, Head of Product, Head of Software Development acting as the primary QA partner;


• Be the voice on where QA stands across products, teams & releases;


• Define & evolve our QA strategy across the full product ecosystem — SpeechLive clients (mobile, desktop and web) and hardware integrations — balancing release confidence with delivery speed & risk;


• Lead a cross‑team QA programs including release readiness, integration coverage, cross‑region validation & go/no‑go decisions, bringing a clear risk picture & concrete options;


• Define the test approach for complex, cross‑component work where no existing playbook exists, setting exit criteria, owning the call & coordinating across teams to see it through;


• Identifying systemic QA signals — recurring escape patterns, automation gaps, integration blind spots & driving root‑cause fixes;


• Set QA automation strategy & guiding tooling decisions;


• Actively fix bottlenecks in CI pipelines, test environments & test data;


• Build the QA standards & mechanisms — definition of done, quality gates, escalation paths, coverage expectations — that teams across engineering can work to consistently;


• Coordinating QA standards & release readiness with external development and technology partners.

What you bring:

• 7+ years of experience in QA Engineering, including meaningful experience leading QA teams;


• Solid People Leadership: experience developing QA engineers, giving direct & actionable feedback;


• Experiences in building a team Culture of Ownership & Continuous Improvement across different seniority levels;


• Ideally you have grown from hands‑on testing into a leadership role & are comfortable operating at both levels;


• Excellent stakeholder management & communication skills: you can give a clear, honest account of where quality stands across products, teams & releases to both technical / non‑technical audiences, and you can align multiple internal teams and external partners around shared standards;


• Strong practical understanding of testing complex, multi‑platform SaaS software products — automation architecture, CI/CD integration, API testing, and end‑to‑end test strategy, including AI/ML‑based features — sufficient to make sound technical decisions & earn the team confidence;


• Experience in voice or speech technology is a massive plus;


• Proven track record of close, productive collaboration with Engineering & Product leadership — you are comfortable challenging scope, timelines & product decisions when the QA risk warrants it;


• Technically credible: you have a solid understanding of modern testing practices (automation, CI/CD integration, test architecture, API and mobile testing) & can have meaningful technical conversations with QA engineers & senior developers alike;


• Experience working in Agile environments at scale, ideally across international hiperdistributed teams;


• Familiarity with speech, AI/ML‑based features, or hardware‑software integrations is a plus;


• Fluent in English is mandatory. Other language skills – particularly German – are advantageous.
