Placements24 is seeking a Farm Management Trainee for an internship in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will gain hands-on experience in crop planning, irrigation, pest management, and post-harvest handling under seasoned managers, with a blend of on-site duties and remote learning.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate with a degree or diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Strong passion for agriculture and a desire to learn farm management.
• Basic understanding of crop production principles.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and farming techniques.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Physically fit and able to work in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license is highly desirable.
• Proactive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Openness to a hybrid work model, balancing on-site duties with remote learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist farm managers with planning and execution of crop activities.
• Learn crop cultivation, including planting, fertilization, and irrigation.
• Monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and suggest basic treatments.
• Gain experience operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment.
• Assist with inventory management of farm inputs.
• Learn post-harvest processes, including packing and storage.
• Support data collection for farm records, yield monitoring, and efficiency.
• Follow safety protocols and environmental best practices on the farm.
• Engage in remote learning modules and training sessions provided by the company.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
