Job summary

Silhouette International Schmied AG in Linz (Austria) is seeking a curious Eyewear Designer to join our international design team. This full-time role offers hybrid and home-office options, with potential placement in Linz or Vienna and collaboration across our three brands.

You will explore trends, create concepts and 2D/3D designs from idea to product, work with R&D, prototyping and production, and shape future collections while communicating stories to marketing, sales and opticians.

Qualifications

• Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or related field.
• Strong portfolio showing conceptual strength and attention to detail.
• Ability to develop ideas from concept to 2D/3D design and final product.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and 3D design tools (Rhino, SolidWorks).
• Understanding of form, proportion, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Curiosity for new materials, technologies and production methods.
• Independent, hands-on, solution-oriented work style.
• Collaborative mindset with design, engineering and manufacturing teams.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a curious, creative and ambitious Eyewear Designer to join our international design team in our Headquarter in Linz.

Your Tasks

• Explore. Track emerging trends in fashion, design, materials, technology and culture — and turn insights into relevant design directions.
• Create. Develop concepts, moodboards, sketches and 2D/3D designs from the first idea to a tangible product.
• Shape. Work closely with Color Design, R&D, prototyping and construction to transform creative ideas into feasible, high-quality eyewear.
• Communicate. Tell the story behind your designs and inspire colleagues, marketing, sales and opticians.
• Contribute. Become part of the development of future collections across our three distinctive brands.

Your Profile

• A degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related field
• A strong portfolio demonstrating original thinking, conceptual strength, sensitivity to form and attention to detail
• The ability to develop ideas from concept and sketch through 2D/3D design to the physical product
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and 3D design tools such as Rhino, SolidWorks or equivalent
• A strong understanding of form, proportion, materials and manufacturing processes
• Genuine curiosity for new materials, technologies and production methods
• The confidence to question conventional approaches, explore new ideas and develop your own design point of view
• An independent, hands‑on and solution‑oriented way of working
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with design, engineering and manufacturing teams
• Experience in eyewear, product or industrial design is an advantage – but exceptional potential and a strong portfolio matter just as much

For this full-time position, we offer a minimum gross yearly salary of EUR 60,962.30 in accordance with the Austrian Collective Agreement for the Metal Industry. Depending on your qualifications and professional experience, we are happy to offer a higher salary.
