Job summary

The University of Vienna seeks a BioNMR Facility & Data Science Specialist to operate the BioNMR Core Facility, manage instrument operations, and support a large user base at the interface of analytical science and computational workflows. You will help develop data pipelines (Python/R), enable AI-driven data analysis, and contribute to metabolomics projects while ensuring safety and IT coordination.

Qualifications

• Holds a Master’s or PhD in biophysics, physical chemistry, data science, or related quantitative field.
• Hands-on experience with NMR spectroscopy, data processing pipelines, and programming (Python and/or R).
• Strong interest in analytical workflows, chemometrics, and AI applications in life sciences.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain BioNMR facility equipment and workflows.
• Provide user support and onboarding for instrument usage and safety.
• Develop and maintain data-processing pipelines using Python and R.
• Integrate ML tools and optimize workflows for higher throughput.
• Coordinate IT infrastructure, data management, backups and quality checks.
• Collaborate on research projects with internal and external partners.
