ALTEN is seeking an Automation Engineer – HMI & SCADA in Austria to design and optimize HMI/SCADA systems for industrial applications. You will configure screens, alarms, tags, and trends, and collaborate with PLC developers and product owners across international teams.

You bring a degree in Electrical/Automation Engineering and hands-on experience with SCADA platforms, PLCs, and OPC UA. A proactive, solution-focused mindset and strong English skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Automation Engineering or related field.
• Experience with measurement, control and process automation technologies.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems such as WinCC, Zenon, Atvise or comparable platforms.
• Experience with industrial PLCs and automation systems.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, ideally OPC UA.
• Basic programming and scripting skills; understanding of web technologies.
• Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting and support in industrial environments.
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary, international teams.
• Structured, proactive and solution-oriented approach.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

• Perform testing, validation, and QA to ensure stable performance.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and user manuals.
• Support development of digital solutions for industrial automation and energy systems.

• design, maintain, and continuously improve HMI & SCADA systems for industrial applications
• configure HMI/SCADA screens, alarms, tags, trends, and historization of process and measurement data
• create reusable templates, scripts, and tools to optimize project-specific customizations and improve engineering efficiency

YOU...

• have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related technical field
• have experience with measurement, control, and process automation technologies
• are familiar with SCADA systems such as WinCC, Zenon, Bachmann Atvise, or comparable platforms
• have experience working with industrial PLC and automation systems
• possess knowledge of industrial communication protocols and interfaces, ideally including OPC UA
• have basic programming and scripting skills as well as an understanding of web technologies
• are familiar with commissioning, troubleshooting, and support activities in industrial environments
• enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams and collaborating with international stakeholders
• have a structured, solution-oriented, and proactive way of working
• have excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken

Salary starting at €3,800 gross per month (based on 38.5 hours/week), with a clear willingness to offer a higher salary depending on qualifications and professional experience.
