xczeptiq is seeking a Head of Engineering to scale the engineering org, set long-term technical direction, and ensure production-ready solutions for our AI-driven enterprise platform. This founding-stage, hands-on leadership role starts with core development and rapidly builds a team from the ground up.

The proprietary Cognitive Collaboration Graph provides an advanced intelligence layer that maps HumanHuman, HumanAI, and HumanSoftware interactions at a policy-compliant level of detail.

The Role

As Head of Engineering, you will take on a vital leadership role responsible for scaling the engineering organization, setting long-term technical direction, and ensuring the high-quality delivery of xczeptiq’s core platforms and products.

This is a founding-stage, hands-on leadership opportunity. In the beginning, you will be heavily involved in "vibe coding" and building the technical infrastructure, with the responsibility of scaling the development team completely from scratch. You will collaborate closely with the founders to translate strategic business needs into robust, secure, and production-ready technical solutions.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Hands-on Development: Lead by example with high-quality software development (vibe coding at the start) and drive critical architectural decisions.
• Team Building & Mentorship: Hire, build, and mentor a world-class engineering team from scratch, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and psychological safety.
• Engineering Excellence: Define technical standards, engineering best practices, and code quality benchmarks across the organisation.
• Project & Resource Management: Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and cross-functional dependencies to deliver products on time and within scope.
• Strategic Collaboration: Work directly with the founders, data teams, and business stakeholders to align the engineering roadmap with the company growth and AI-focused initiatives.
• Security & Compliance: Maintain a strict focus on system reliability, privacy, and compliance considerations critical to enterprise AI environments.

What We Are Looking For

• Proven Leadership: Strong background in Team Management and Engineering Management, with a track record of building, mentoring, and scaling technical teams in a fast-paced, product-focused startup or high-growth environment.
• Technical Excellence: Solid hands-on background in Software Development, modern engineering practices, and robust system architecture.
• AI & Enterprise Expertise: Experience developing AI-driven or data-intensive products, alongside an understanding of enterprise software ecosystems and integrations.
• Execution & Project Delivery: Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate complex initiatives and maintain a high delivery velocity.
• Exceptional Communication: Ability to collaborate seamlessly across product, business, and data streams, translating complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Academic or Practical Foundation: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Location: Comfort working in a hybrid setup in Austria, and a readiness to thrive in an evolving, fast-moving environment.

Compensation Package:

By Austrian law, we are required to state the minimum collective agreement salary for this position, which is € 5,301 gross p.m. (IT-KV, level LT).

However, as an early employee, your actual compensation will be custom-tailored.

It consists of a direct equity stake in the FlexCo combined with a salary component, structurally designed to match your market value and our startup stage. We are explicitly willing to overpay the collective minimum through this combined equity and salary package.
