Job summary

GE HealthCare seeks an AI Data Engineer in its Advanced Imaging Solutions group in Zipf, Austria, to build reusable data tools and operate shared infrastructure for ultrasound teams worldwide.

You will design experiments, benchmark platforms, and extend tools across teams, while ensuring security, privacy, and traceability of healthcare data. Hybrid work with in-office days is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, data engineering, software engineering, information systems, AI, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience developing and operating data pipelines, shared software tools, or AI development infrastructure.
• Practical knowledge of cloud environments, containers, Linux, and data workflow orchestration.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience designing APIs, integrating services, and working with structured and unstructured data.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, code review, CI/CD, and maintainable software packaging.
• Ability to design controlled technical experiments, benchmark platforms, and communicate results clearly.
• Understanding of AI data workflows, including curation, annotation, dataset versioning, and training/validation data.
• Awareness of security, privacy, and traceability requirements when handling healthcare data.
• Fluent English and the ability to collaborate with globally distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Translate cross-team requirements, reference architectures, and priorities into working solutions and operational procedures.
• Design and run reproducible experiments, proofs of concept, and benchmarks on data platforms.
• Assess interoperability, performance, scalability, and operating cost against requirements; document methods and results.
• Collaborate to extend tools for use across teams; refactor assumptions into configurable modules.
• Develop and maintain shared libraries, services, and connectors with automated tests and deployment workflows.
• Build and operate data ingestion, transformation, and validation pipelines for data curation and AI development.
• Operate shared tools and environments; handle configuration, updates, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Support onboarding, tool integration, and migrations; provide feedback on infrastructure gaps.
• Implement data quality checks, logging, access controls, and retention workflows.
• Investigate failures, reproduce issues, and coordinate with platform teams or vendors to resolve root causes.
• Create user guides, integration examples, and runbooks; provide training and technical support.
