The UN Secretariat at UN Vienna seeks an Accounting Assistant (Treasury) to support the Treasury’s financial operations, reconciling transactions and managing banking details in the ERP system. The role covers multi-currency bank reconciliations, statement review, and reporting support.

Organizational context: This position is within the Treasury, Accounts Section, Financial Resources Management Service, Division for Management at the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV/UNODC). The Accounting Assistant will report to the Treasurer or a senior Treasury Assistant, contributing to the financial operations of the organization.

Responsibilities: The Accounting Assistant is responsible for reconciling accounting transactions and maintaining banking details in the UN's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This includes reconciling bank accounts in multiple currencies, reviewing bank statements for accuracy, and identifying discrepancies for senior staff attention. The role involves monitoring open item payments and assisting in the preparation of necessary documentation for distribution. Furthermore, the position handles queries from staff and third parties, supports data collection and analysis for reports, and aids in creating visualizations and updating information materials.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Work experience: A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance is required. This minimum is reduced to one year for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher. Experience with ERP applications, such as SAP, is desirable.
