Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a strategic Mine Planning Engineer to lead long-term planning initiatives for its Sandton operations. You will develop multi-year mine plans to optimize resource use, production targets, and economic viability while ensuring safety and environmental standards.

The role requires a strong analytical background, in-depth mining methods knowledge, and experience in strategic design and optimization.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years in mine planning and design with focus on long-term planning.
• Proficiency in mine planning software and strong geological interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update 5–20 year mine plans for open pit and underground operations.
• Optimize designs to maximize NPV and extraction efficiency within constraints.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects or expansions.
• Coordinate with operations for practical implementation and provide technical support.
• Utilize Deswik, Vulcan, and Xact effectively for planning work.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management.
