Promtior, a leader in agentic AI, is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to lead end-to-end design of production-grade autonomous AI systems. This client-facing role requires shaping architecture, tool orchestration, and retrieval pipelines.

You will mentor engineers, defend technical choices to clients, and drive adoption of cutting-edge AI technologies across teams. Hybrid work across LATAM, with offices in Buenos Aires and Montevideo.

Formación

• Advanced studies in Systems Engineering, Data Science, AI, or related fields.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• 2+ years building agentic or LLM-based systems in production.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior AI Engineer with deep hands-on experience building agentic AI systems to join our Engineering team as a technical reference. This is a senior, client-facing position: you will own the technical direction of our agentic solutions end to end, make and defend architecture decisions in front of clients, and raise the technical level of the engineers around you as we scale our global operation.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead the design and development of production-grade agentic AI systems, defining the architecture of autonomous agents, tool orchestration, and retrieval pipelines, and selecting the right models, tools, and trade-offs for each use case. You will establish evaluation and quality practices for agentic systems — evals, guardrails, observability, and cost and latency optimization — and be accountable for their reliability in production. You will act as the technical counterpart for clients, translating business problems into agentic solutions, running technical discovery, and defending the approach in front of technical stakeholders. You will mentor and unblock other engineers, review their work, and drive the adoption of new AI technologies across teams. You will also contribute to the continuous evolution of our solutions toward more advanced ML components.

Required Experience

• Advanced or completed studies in Systems Engineering, Data Science, AI, or related fields.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping agentic or LLM-based systems to production environments (not proofs of concept).
• Strong, production-level command of Python.
• Proven experience designing agents and tool orchestration, including reliability, cost, and latency considerations.
• Proven experience designing and evaluating RAG pipelines: chunking and retrieval strategies, embeddings, vector databases, and relevance measurement.
• Solid architecture and integration skills across APIs, backend services, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Demonstrated experience acting as a technical reference: mentoring engineers, reviewing code, and owning technical decisions.
• Experience working directly with clients or technical stakeholders as the technical counterpart.
• Good command of Git and collaborative work in technical teams.
• Advanced English Level.

• Experience with multi-agent systems and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Experience with model evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and AI observability tooling.
• Experience adapting, fine-tuning, or evaluating ML models.
• Knowledge of MLOps and model deployment at scale.
• Experience with NLP or text processing.
• Knowledge of Docker, containers, and CI/CD.
• Experience leading technical discovery or AI adoption initiatives with clients.
