Responsabilidades

  • Lead development and enhancement of actuarial models and processes supporting retail annuity reinsurance transactions and new product initiatives.
  • Create modeling specifications, calculations, reporting solutions, and operational processes translating product features, reinsurance structures, and regulatory requirements into actionable business outcomes.
  • Oversee actuarial analyses, reporting processes, controls, and model implementation activities to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.
  • Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, balancing business needs, regulatory changes, transaction requirements, deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Develop insights and recommendations by analyzing actuarial results, identifying key drivers, assessing impacts, and communicating findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Coordinate efforts across RIS, RAR, Finance, Accounting, IT, MAS, TAG, Global Actuarial teams, software vendors, and external partners to ensure successful delivery of actuarial solutions.

The Opportunity

The Actuary is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and enhancement of actuarial models and processes for MetLife’s U.S. Retirement & Income Solutions and Retail Annuities business. The role contributes to the successful execution of retail annuity reinsurance transactions, new product initiatives, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making by delivering robust actuarial insights and scalable modeling solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and enhancement of actuarial models and processes supporting retail annuity reinsurance transactions and new product initiatives.
  • Create modeling specifications, calculations, reporting solutions, and operational processes that translate product features, reinsurance structures, and regulatory requirements into actionable business outcomes.
  • Oversee actuarial analyses, reporting processes, controls, and model implementation activities to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.

Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Actuarial Science (completed or in progress) with most actuarial exams approved or actively being pursued.
  • Strong actuarial modeling, analytical, and technical skills, with the ability to build, test, validate, and improve complex actuarial models and processes.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts, assumptions, methodologies, and risks to diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across actuarial, finance, business, technology, and external partner teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, solve complex problems, and operate successfully in evolving environments.
  • Strong focus on documentation, governance, controls, accuracy, and process discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Suggested 3+ years of actuarial experience in insurance, annuities, valuation, financial reporting, reinsurance, or related actuarial functions.
  • Experience with annuity products, reinsurance transactions, statutory reserves, RBC, GAAP reporting, ALM, valuation, or actuarial financial reporting.
  • Experience using actuarial modeling platforms such as PolySystems, MG-Hedge, Prophet, AXIS, or similar tools to support actuarial analysis and reporting.
  • Experience leveraging Python, SQL, Power BI, Alteryx, Databricks, Excel/VBA, Oracle, or similar technologies to enhance automation, reporting, and analytics.
  • Strong process improvement mindset with experience identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and operational enhancements.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic environments with evolving products, regulatory requirements, and business priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
