Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Software Architect to assess and redefine the target-state architecture for a regulated SaaS product. You will lead a small, mixed-technology team across PHP, C++, and JavaScript, focusing on clean architecture, DDD alignment, and scalable SaMD solutions.

You will drive API design, data modeling, and legacy modernization, while ensuring security, auditability, and regulatory compliance in a private-cloud setting. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience architecting mixed-technology stacks (PHP, C++, JS).
• Strong knowledge of SOLID and GRASP; modern architecture patterns.
• Experience designing and scaling SaMD solutions per regulations.
• Proven ability to lead large-scale legacy modernization and refactoring.
• Experience with APIs, data models, and multi-language integration.
• Ability to mentor remote teams and clearly communicate architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Assess current system architecture, integrations, and data flows to identify debt and scalability issues.
• Define a target-state architecture aligned with DDD and clean architecture; design a multi-vendor data pipeline.
• Design denormalized storage to speed read-heavy queries; analyze trade-offs.
• Develop and execute a phased roadmap to modernize legacy components with backward compatibility.
• Establish engineering standards, coding guidelines, and architectural decision frameworks.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to a small, mixed-technology team (PHP, C++, JS).
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing procedures, and release processes.
• Mentor and transfer knowledge through design reviews and documentation.
