Position

Senior Program Manager

Department

Product Development/Technology

Position Summary

The Senior Program Manager drives execution of cross-LOB technology programs on behalf of Engineering leadership, wherever an initiative spans more than one Line of Business, more than one team, or requires a neutral, program-level owner rather than sitting inside a single group. This role owns specific programs end to end: defining scope and milestones, tracking progress in Jira, surfacing risk, and preparing the data and narrative that feed into Steering Committee (Steerco) reporting. The portfolio spans any technology initiative leadership needs run in a structured, cross-LOB way, for example: cloud cost tracking and optimization (such as AWS cost governance), observability platform governance (such as Grafana usage, permissions, and cost), CMT change management adoption, DORA metrics rollout, the Pipeline Maturity Model gap analysis, and Quality Gate rollout across LOBs. The Senior Program Manager reports to the Program Management Lead and works day to day with the relevant technical leads, LOB representatives, and VP stakeholders to keep committed work on track. The ideal candidate brings enough technical fluency across cloud infrastructure, SDLC, DevOps, and QA practices to engage credibly with engineering teams on whatever program they are assigned, and an active orientation toward using AI tools to do the job faster and better.

Key Responsibilities
Program Execution and Tracking
  • Own day to day execution of one or more assigned cross-LOB technology programs (for example: AWS cost tracking and optimization, Grafana observability governance, CMT wave adoption, DORA dashboard stabilization, Pipeline Maturity Model gap closure, Quality Gate rollout).
  • Maintain accurate, live status in Jira for assigned initiatives: epics, owners, blockers, and target dates, so the cross-LOB portfolio view is always current.
  • Identify program-level risks and blockers early and elevate to the Program Management Lead with a clear recommendation, not just a flag.
  • Coordinate dependencies between groups where a single initiative touches more than one (for example, Gate 6 / C3 post-deploy verification, which sits at the intersection of Quality and DevOps, or Grafana governance, which touches both cost management and observability standards).
Steerco and Leadership Reporting
  • Prepare Steerco-ready inputs for assigned programs: data, trend lines, and a narrative that leads with impact rather than activity.
  • Support the Program Management Lead in building the consolidated cross-CoE Steerco deck and briefing materials.
  • Respond to ad hoc leadership requests for status with a fast, well-framed answer grounded in live data.
Cross-Functional Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with the relevant technical and program leads (whether a CoE lead, a platform owner, or a LOB engineering lead) to keep assigned programs coordinated and moving.
  • Operate as a neutral, program-level partner across sponsoring groups and LOBs rather than an advocate for any single one.
  • Partner with VP stakeholders and LOB agile leaders to confirm adoption, sequencing, and capacity, since CoEs recommend standards but LOBs own implementation.
Program Governance and Documentation
  • Maintain program infrastructure for assigned initiatives: planning calendars, milestone tracking, and shared documentation (SharePoint, Confluence, Jira).
  • Support the governance frameworks already established at the CoE level (Go/No-Go process, quality gates, pipeline maturity model, evidence gates) by keeping process documentation current and visible.
  • Flag opportunities to improve coordination or reduce duplicated effort across sponsoring groups and LOBs.
AI Adoption and Enablement
  • Actively use AI tools (including Claude and Claude skills) to accelerate reporting, data synthesis, and status communication for assigned programs.
  • Identify practical opportunities where AI can reduce manual tracking effort or improve the quality of cross-functional workflows.
  • Share reusable prompts, skills, and templates with the rest of the PMO team to build collective capability.
Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, project management, or a closely related role within a technology or software organization.
  • Exposure to software development practices sufficient to engage in technical conversations: SDLC, Agile/Scrum, CI/CD concepts, and QA fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices (pipelines, environments, release/change management) and QA processes (test planning, defect tracking, quality gates) at a conceptual level.
  • Practical experience using AI tools (such as Claude or ChatGPT) to enhance personal productivity, reporting, or communication in a professional context.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex, cross-functional information into clear status reporting for senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with objectivity and neutrality across multiple teams with competing priorities.
  • Proven experience managing dependencies, risks, and blockers across concurrent workstreams.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken, given daily collaboration with US and cross-geography stakeholders and Steerco-level reporting.
Preferred
  • Experience with Jira administration or advanced Jira reporting (JQL, dashboards) in a multi-project environment.
  • Experience working alongside or embedded in engineering, QA, or DevOps teams.
  • Familiarity with DORA metrics (deployment frequency, change failure rate, lead time, MTTR).
  • Experience in a multi-geography or distributed team environment.
  • PMP, SAFe, or equivalent certification is a plus but not required.
