Job summary

Medallia is seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to own PostgreSQL clusters in a Kubernetes-backed cloud estate. You will drive reliability, incident response, and automation while partnering with engineering to optimize schemas and queries.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in production PostgreSQL, deep MVCC/VACUUM knowledge, and strong Linux/Kubernetes skills, with English fluency and on-call readiness. The role is hybrid, with 3 days onsite in the Buenos Aires vicinity.

Qualifications

5+ years running PostgreSQL in large-scale production or SaaS environments.
MVCC, vacuum, WAL, locking, concurrency, and query planning knowledge.
Experience with capacity planning, backup/restore, replication, and HA.
Ability to design automation and runbooks; on-call readiness.
Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

Own availability and performance of production PostgreSQL clusters against SLAs.
Manage database lifecycle: provisioning, upgrades, scaling, and decommissioning.
Oversee backup, recovery, replication, and high availability with tests.
Lead incident reviews and drive blameless RCA and permanent fixes.
Develop automation, tooling, and self-service DB workflows for teams.
Collaborate with product-engineering on schema changes and queries.
