Job summary

Okto Payments is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain reliable, scalable applications. You will own features through the SDLC, guide others with reviews, and contribute to architectural decisions in an Agile team.

You will design REST APIs, build microservices, and improve performance, reliability, and security while creating documentation in Confluence and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5–6+ years of professional software development experience, primarily using Java.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring ecosystem.
• Solid understanding of OO programming, design principles, and patterns.
• Experience with REST APIs and microservices design.
• Proficiency with Maven and Git-based workflows.
• Strong SQL knowledge and familiarity with JPA/Hibernate.
• Experience with unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito).
• Familiarity with CI/CD and modern delivery practices.
• Excellent English communication skills and ability to mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Translate requirements into scalable software solutions and participate in the full SDLC.
• Design and integrate REST APIs and microservices and troubleshoot production issues.
• Write clean, well‑tested code and perform code reviews for teammates.
• Contribute to system design, architecture, and technical decision‑making.
• Improve performance, reliability, security, and maintainability of applications.
• Create and maintain technical documentation in Confluence.
• Collaborate with product owners, QA, and other teams in an Agile environment.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies and technical discussions.
