Placements24 is assisting a pivotal organization in Sandton to hire a Senior Grid Planning Engineer. The role targets long-term grid studies and efficient integration of renewables to bolster resilience and support the energy transition.

You will lead analyses using PSS/E, PowerFactory, or UPLAN, collaborate with developers and regulators, and prepare strategic reports for senior management. A Master’s in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, specialization in Power Systems.
8+ years of progressive experience in power system planning and grid analysis.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Experience with renewable energy integration studies and smart grid technologies.

Responsibilities

Conduct long-term transmission and distribution grid expansion studies and forecast load growth.
Perform power flow, stability, and contingency analyses to assess grid performance.
Develop strategic grid reinforcement plans, considering renewable integration and new technologies.
Collaborate with generation developers, distribution networks, and regulators to align planning with sector goals.
Evaluate technical and economic feasibility of proposed grid investments and projects.
Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
