Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of software experience, deep Elixir/Phoenix expertise, and a track record of influencing architecture and engineering practices in autonomous, remote environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Elixir and functional programming concepts.
• Experience with production apps in Elixir and Phoenix.
• Experience owning large, multi-service systems spanning teams.
• Understanding of software architecture and cross-team decisions.
• Experience with Phoenix LiveView is strongly preferred.
• Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including query optimization.
• Experience building data ingestion pipelines or ETL processes.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, queues, and cross-service consistency.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving for complex systems.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, automated testing, collaboration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of technical leadership.
• Experience in highly autonomous and remote environments.

Responsibilities

• Owning and evolving complex systems that span multiple teams, services, and repositories.
• Driving architecture discussions and facilitating high‑impact technical decisions.
• Designing, implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining production systems.
• Conducting thorough, high‑volume code reviews across repositories to ensure quality and unblock teams.
• Pairing with and mentoring engineers across teams to improve capabilities and productivity.
• Diagnosing and resolving complex production issues, including data‑correctness problems.
• Building and maintaining data ingestion pipelines, event‑driven services, and cross‑service infrastructure.
• Breaking down large, ambiguous, cross‑team initiatives into well‑sequenced projects and tasks.
• Improving CI/CD, developer tooling, observability, testing, and security.
• Documenting system architecture and creating runbooks for knowledge sharing.
• Collaborating with engineering leads and stakeholders to translate problems into solutions.
• Building user‑facing features end‑to‑end when needed, using Phoenix LiveView.
