Job summary

AgileEngine, an Inc. 5000 company, is seeking an Elixir Engineer to build and maintain a growing software platform as an embedded member of a small team.

You will work across the application, collaborate with PMs to translate user problems into technical solutions, and own development end-to-end. Qualifications include 2+ years in software development, strong Elixir/Erlang experience, and PostgreSQL proficiency.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Elixir and/or Erlang.
• Strong understanding of functional programming principles.
• Experience designing, consuming, or maintaining APIs and service integrations.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and modern development practices.
• Ability to independently own and deliver engineering tasks.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Comfortable working across different areas of a product with a distributed team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Availability for a full-time engagement.
• Based in Latin America with strong working-hour overlap with the team in Austin, Texas.
• Ability to occasionally travel to the United States if required.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and improve the software platform using Elixir.
• Work across different areas of the application as part of a small engineering team.
• Collaborate closely with product managers to understand user problems and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Participate in technical and product discussions and contribute to implementation decisions.
• Take ownership of development work from requirements and problem definition through implementation and delivery.
• Build and maintain integrations with internal and external services and APIs.
• Work with PostgreSQL and the application’s data layer.
• Write reliable, maintainable, well-tested production code.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the application.
• Contribute to the evolution of the platform and engineering practices as the product grows.
• Communicate progress, technical considerations, tradeoffs, and blockers clearly with the broader team.
• Work effectively in an environment where priorities and responsibilities may evolve as the company grows.
