Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team. This hybrid role centers on reliability, automation, and delivery of data pipelines and analytics capabilities on an AWS-first stack.

You will build and maintain cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tooling to empower data engineers to ship high-quality data products swiftly and safely.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional DevOps or platform engineering experience, including data engineering.
• Deep expertise with AWS core services (S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS).
• Hands-on with AWS data services: Glue, Athena, and S3 lifecycle and security.
• Proficiency with IaC tools: Terraform and/or AWS CDK.
• Strong CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, ECS/EKS, Kubernetes).
• Design and operate observability systems (metrics, logs, tracing, alerts).
• Excellent communication and ability to translate ops concerns into clear engineering trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AWS Glue ETL jobs and related data infra.
• Build and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using IaC (Terraform / CDK).
• Own observability stack for data pipelines with metrics, logs, alerts.
• Develop DataOps self-service tooling and pipeline templates.
• Manage container/compute infra (Docker, ECS/EKS, Lambda) for data services.
• Operate workflow orchestration environments (MWAA / Airflow / Step Functions).
• Build AWS Glue ETL jobs (PySpark) for large-scale data ingestion.
• Apply security best practices: secrets management, least-privilege IAM, network segmentation.
• Collaborate with data teams to translate requirements into scalable infra.
• Lead incident response and post-mortem-driven improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code/design reviews.
