Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team. This hybrid role focuses on reliability, automation, and delivery of data pipelines on AWS. You will own CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and the observability stack to support data engineering teams building large-scale data products.

You'll collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and security to ensure scalable, secure infrastructure. Strong communication and mentoring skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE with data engineering exposure.
• Deep AWS core services: S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS, Secrets Manager.
• Hands-on with Glue, Athena, and S3 data services.
• Infrastructure as code: Terraform and/or AWS CDK.
• Strong CI/CD experience across GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI.
• Container tech: Docker and orchestration: ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.
• Observability: metrics, logs, distributed tracing, alerting.
• Excellent communication for cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data infra.
• Build and manage AWS cloud infrastructure (S3, Glue, Athena) via IaC.
• Own observability stack and incident response for data platforms.
• Develop self-service DataOps tooling and templates.
• Lead incident responses and post-mortems.
• Mentor junior engineers on DevOps and data eng practices.
