Prometeo Talent is partnering with a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup to hire a Senior Backend Engineer. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python, with a strong ownership mindset in a startup environment.

You will work on distributed systems, AI-assisted development, and collaborate with a highly technical team. Ideal candidates have 8+ years in software engineering, 5+ years Python, Java expertise, Docker and Kubernetes in production, and

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software or backend engineering.
• 5+ years Python experience in production-grade backend systems.
• Strong Java experience and AI/LLM-based development in production.
• Experience with distributed systems and data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on with Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Advanced English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services with Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems with databases, APIs, queues, and pipelines.
• Own features from design to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems focusing on reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to translate requirements into solutions.
• Improve system performance and scalability across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to speed delivery while ensuring quality.
• Participate in architectural discussions and key technical decisions.
• Improve development processes, tooling, and standards.
