Job summary

The Western Union Company is seeking a Settlement Accounting Analyst in Buenos Aires. The role focuses on designing, recording, analyzing, and reconciling financial transactions within Settlement, ensuring accuracy and adherence to controls.

You will support month‑end/year‑end closes, maintain SOX compliance, and drive process improvements with cross‑functional teams. Prior experience in accounting and strong Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in account analysis, reconciliations, auditing, or related accounting functions.
• Intermediate English proficiency (written and verbal).
• Advanced Excel; experience with databases, Oracle, JD Edwards, macros and AI tools is desirable.

Job description

Role Responsibilities

• The Settlement Accounting Analyst is responsible for the accounting design, recording, analysis, and reconciliation of financial transactions related to the products managed within the Settlement function.
• This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information, supports month-end and year-end closing activities, maintains compliance with internal and external audit requirements, and contributes to the continuous improvement of operational processes.
• Perform daily accounting entries related to banks, cash transportation companies, payment processors, intercompany accounts, and other financial operations.
• Monitor and validate daily accounting postings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare, analyze, and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Produce high-quality weekly and monthly reports and ensure all reconciliation and reporting deadlines are met.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes by providing accurate and timely financial information.
• Maintain strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure effective service delivery and issue resolution.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, and internal/external audit standards.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, standardization, and automation within the Settlement function.
• Contribute to projects that impact Settlement operations and support the implementation of new processes and controls.

Role Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; students in the final stages of their degree or recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in account analysis, reconciliations, auditing, or related accounting functions.
• Intermediate English proficiency (written and verbal).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required; experience with databases, Oracle, JD Edwards, macros, and AI tools is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, organizational, planning and detail oriented.
• Work effectively in a dynamic environment, manage multiple priorities, and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, adapt to change, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
