Job summary

Johnson Matthey is seeking a Financial Accountant (Compliance & Controls) to own statutory reporting for the Pilar site, ensuring accurate P&L and balance sheet, while leading monthly reviews and external audits. You’ll design plant-level controls and drive remediation actions with cross-functional finance teams.

The role requires IFRS proficiency, a professional accounting qualification (ACA/CIMA or equivalent is a plus), and strong communication in English.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading financial controls, compliance and risk management activities.
• Ability to work collaboratively across finance and non-finance teams.
• Strong technical accounting expertise; ACA/CIMA or equivalent is nice to have.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS and experience applying standards within a complex or global organisation.
• Strong communication skills in written and spoken English.
• A structured, delivery-focused approach with the confidence to manage multiple priorities under time pressure.

Responsibilities

• Own statutory and legal financial reporting for the site, including preparation and sign-off of statutory accounts and financial accounting packs.
• Deliver accurate P&L and balance sheet reporting, working closely with Plant Management Accountants and Accounting Services to ensure data integrity.
• Lead monthly balance sheet and P&L reviews, ensuring IFRS compliance and control requirements.
• Manage external audit and statutory close processes, acting as primary contact for auditors and third-party queries.
• Design, implement and monitor plant-level financial controls and remediation actions.
• Partner with Sector Finance teams on tax, treasury, accounting policy and wider compliance matters.

The role:

As a Financial Accountant (Compliance & Controls), you will help drive our goals by:

• Owning statutory and legal financial reporting for the site, including preparation and sign‑off of statutory accounts and financial accounting packs.
• Delivering accurate P&L and balance sheet reporting, working closely with Plant Management Accountants and Accounting Services to ensure data integrity.
• Leading monthly balance sheet and P&L reviews, ensuring compliance with IFRS, internal accounting policies and control requirements.
• Managing external audit and statutory close processes, acting as the primary contact for auditors and third‑party queries.
• Designing, implementing and monitoring plant‑level financial controls, identifying risks and driving remediation actions where required.
• Partnering with Sector Finance teams on tax, treasury, accounting policy and wider compliance matters, including ad‑hoc improvement projects.
