Johnson Matthey in Pilar (hybrid) is seeking a Financial Accountant (Compliance & Controls). You will own site financial reporting, ensure IFRS compliance and lead internal control improvements, working with finance teams and auditors.

Ideal candidates have a strong accounting background, IFRS expertise, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a global organisation. Hybrid work and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

• Own statutory and legal financial reporting for the site, including preparation and sign-off of statutory accounts.
• Deliver accurate P&L and balance sheet reporting with Plant Management Accountants.
• Lead monthly balance sheet and P&L reviews for IFRS compliance.
• Manage external audits and statutory close processes with auditors.
• Design, implement and monitor plant-level financial controls and remediation actions.
• Collaborate with Sector Finance on tax, treasury and policy matters.

Location: Pilar (hybrid)

The role:

As a Financial Accountant (Compliance & Controls), you will help drive our goals by:

• Owning statutory and legal financial reporting for the site, including preparation and sign‑off of statutory accounts and financial accounting packs.
• Delivering accurate P&L and balance sheet reporting, working closely with Plant Management Accountants and Accounting Services to ensure data integrity.
• Leading monthly balance sheet and P&L reviews, ensuring compliance with IFRS, internal accounting policies and control requirements.
• Managing external audit and statutory close processes, acting as the primary contact for auditors and third‑party queries.
• Designing, implementing and monitoring plant‑level financial controls, identifying risks and driving remediation actions where required.
• Partnering with Sector Finance teams on tax, treasury, accounting policy and wider compliance matters, including ad‑hoc improvement projects.

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:

• Proven experience leading financial controls, compliance and risk management activities.
• Ability to work collaboratively across finance and non‑finance teams.
• Strong technical accounting expertise, Professional accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA or equivalent – nice to have)
• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS and experience applying standards within a complex or global organisation.
• Strong communication skills with a high level of written and spoken English.
• A structured, delivery‑focused approach with the confidence to manage multiple priorities under time pressure.
