Job summary

Prometeo Talent is partnering with a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup to recruit a Senior Backend Engineer. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services using Java and Python, with distributed systems experience and AI-assisted development workflows.

The candidate will own features end-to-end and collaborate with a highly technical team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years Python production-grade backend experience.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based application development in production.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data pipelines.
• Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and asynchronous processing.
• Startup or fast-paced environments with strong ownership mindset.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems with databases, APIs, queues, and data pipelines.
• Own features through design, implementation, and monitoring to optimize performance.
• Build production-ready systems focused on reliability and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to translate business needs into tech solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while preserving quality.
• Participate in architectural discussions and key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes and engineering standards.
