Job summary

The Network Support Engineer at VyOS Networks is responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing VyOS networking solutions to ensure performance, stability, and usability.

You will design PoC scenarios, test new features, troubleshoot complex issues, and maintain technical documentation while collaborating with developers, support teams, and external partners to extend VyOS compatibility across diverse networks.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Hands-on experience with VyOS or other open-source networking platforms.
• Proficiency in Python or Bash for automation and testing.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in complex networks.
• Experience with network performance tuning and security best practices.
• Familiarity with SDN and cloud networking concepts.
• Ability to develop and execute test cases for network functionality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop new features and optimize existing VyOS code for performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate with developers to review changes, test features, and provide feedback on bugs and proposals.
• Create technical content including solution briefs and datasheets for networking use cases.
• Design, deploy, and configure VyOS-based networks to meet objectives and performance standards.
• Design and deploy PoC scenarios with VyOS, documenting setups and benchmarks.
• Diagnose and resolve network performance, security, and connectivity issues using advanced tools.
• Investigate escalated issues, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver reproducible solutions.
• Conduct functional, performance, and regression testing for VyOS features and fixes.
• Develop and manage automated test frameworks for repetitive tests.
• Enhance testing methodologies with advanced tools and frameworks.
• Conduct interoperability testing with third-party systems for VyOS integration.
• Maintain a centralized knowledge base with detailed, technically accurate articles.
