Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Mid-level Data Engineer to build and maintain dbt pipelines, data marts, and warehouse models behind customer-facing reporting and AI features.

You will translate complex procurement logic into maintainable pipelines, contribute to the semantic layer, and ensure PII boundaries are respected while building FastAPI services for reporting marts. This role emphasizes data quality, governance, and scalable analytics.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in analytics engineering or data engineering on production pipelines.
• Strong dbt experience with modeling, tests, macros and incremental patterns.
• Fluent SQL and working Python for data processing.
• Data modeling fundamentals: dimensional modeling and data marts.
• Experience with Snowflake or a modern cloud data warehouse.
• Experience with ingestion/orchestration tools (Airbyte, Prefect).
• Familiarity with agentic coding tools and guardrails rationale.
• Curiosity about business data and customer usage.
• Software engineering discipline: Git, code review, CI/CD.
• Ability to take multi-sprint work from spec to production.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain dbt pipelines, data marts, and warehouse models.
• Translate complex procurement business logic into reliable pipelines.
• Develop models in the data mart with conformed dimensions and grain rules.
• Enhance semantic layer for MCP servers and AI agents.
• Maintain boundary between PII and safe data for reporting.
• Create FastAPI services exposing reporting marts to customers.
• Ingest data via Airbyte, OneSchema, and S3; support Forward Deployed Engineering.
• Implement data quality checks: freshness, schema, reconciliation, alerting.
• Define metrics faithfully and flag ambiguities to avoid guesswork.
• Maintain documentation and lineage for humans and AI.
• Tune Snowflake performance and cost within models.
