Job summary

Prometeo Talent is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale distributed backend services using Java and Python. You will own features end-to-end, from design to deployment, in a fast-moving startup environment with AI-assisted workflows.

The role emphasizes ownership, scalable architectures, and collaboration with product and engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-performance systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years of professional Python experience in production systems.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Experience with AI/LLM-based application development.
• Experience building AI-driven features or agentic workflows in production.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and scalable architectures.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to thrive in startup environments.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and engineering best practices.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
