REDPATH MINING seeks a journey level Mechanic to perform quality and preventative maintenance on mining equipment including diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems. You will inspect, disassemble, rebuild, reassemble and test components such as engines, powertrains and hydraulics, while adhering to safety protocols.

The role requires troubleshooting, field service capability, welding proficiency (3G/4G on site), parts coordination and documentation duties.

Formación

  • High School, GED, and/or higher education.
  • Recognized trade certificate in maintenance or repair preferred.

Responsabilidades

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions using manuals and schematics.
  • Perform preventative, general/major maintenance and repairs to mining equipment.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Operate forklifts, aerial lifts and service trucks as required.
  • Weld on site, including 3G and 4G competencies when needed.
  • Order parts and complete paperwork; maintain safe, organized work areas.

Job Description

A journey level Mechanic performs quality maintenance, preventative maintenance, diagnosis, disassembly, inspections, rebuilds, and reassembly to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated components and equipment such as engines, power trains, hydraulics, fuel systems, power generation, electrical codes, etc. all related to mining equipment such as Shaft Jumbos, Jumbo Drills, Komatsu Vertical Shaft Muckers, LHD's, Shotcrete pumps, etc. This work includes mobile equipment, hoist, compressors, hand held jackleg drills and miscellaneous equipment of a similar nature.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions by utilizing service manuals, parts books, electrical, and hydraulic manuals.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, general/major maintenance and repairs, diagnostics, inspection, disassembly/assembly according to requirements in shop Work Orders.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
  • Ability to operate various equipment including forklifts, aerial lifts, and service trucks.
  • Familiar with underground mobile equipment braking regulations, testing and adjusting such components.
  • Comply with all Redpath USA Corporation and Owners safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate and move various mine equipment for servicing.
  • Understand confined space, fall protection, equipment isolation, and basic welding standards and procedures.
  • Order parts accurately, and complete all necessary paperwork involved.
  • Ensure planned maintenance is carried out per the maintenance schedule.
  • Ability to weld, will have to take a 3G and 4G on site.
  • Perform safe and timely emergency repairs to equipment.
  • Ensure that all the spares and tools are available and serviceable.
  • Responsible to keep work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.
  • Must be able to follow proper procedures to ensure safety and to control equipment damage.
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
  • Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath’s Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.
  • Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.

Minimum Duties And Responsibilities

Education
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School, GED, and/or higher education.
  • Recognized trade certificate, in the maintenance or repair field preferred.
Work Experience
  • Documented maintenance experience of 5 years. Concentration in heavy equipment maintenance of mining equipment, including, but not limited to, Haul Trucks, Dozers, Jumbo Drill, Hydraulic Shovels, Motor Graders, Front End Loaders, etc.
  • Requires minimum 2 years experience in Underground mining.
  • Full working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and associated software.
Knowledge Required
  • Ability to read and understand materials commonly used in the product service and maintenance function (service and parts manuals, technical bulletins, and other related articles).
  • Extensive technical/mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment as related to mining.
  • Capable of reading & understanding electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Must be capable of reading and interpreting basic electrical instruments and testers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to use and understand Engine/Powertrain Diagnostic Software, both handheld and computer based.
  • Strong knowledge in braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems, payload systems, compressed air systems, engine tune-up requirements, electronic engine controls, drive trains and electric drive haul truck braking/dynamic systems.
  • Must have a working knowledge of all tools and equipment necessary to work in the Maintenance Department
  • Capable of reading and disseminating information from schematics and maintenance manuals.
  • Experience with OEM maintenance repair manuals and schematics.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations pertaining to equipment.
  • High level of attention to detail, neatness and accuracy
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical.
  • Must have a mechanics basic set of hand tools up to a two-inch minimum.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
