Job summary

Blend seeks a Lead AI Engineer to drive end-to-end AI initiatives, from RAG and LLM-based solutions to scalable MLOps infrastructure. You will mentor engineers, define project scope, and partner with clients to deliver robust AI systems. Strong Python, cloud, and leadership skills are essential.

You will guide architectural reviews, establish quality standards, and balance technical excellence with business outcomes in a fast-growing AI services environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and deploying AI/ML in production
• Strong Python and Git practices
• Experience with ML/LLM versioning and deployment
• Cloud experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP (Azure preferred)
• Hands-on RAG, embeddings, retrieval, and evaluation
• Proven MLOps/LLMOps track record with MLflow or similar
• Experience with event-driven architectures and microservices
• Clear communicator with both engineers and leaders
• Mentoring and team-building experience

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end project delivery with governance and stakeholder updates
• Build and mentor a high-performing AI engineering team
• Own proposals and new business initiatives, assess technical feasibility
• Define AI system boundaries and set realistic expectations
• Conduct architectural reviews and maintain coding standards
• Design robust inference infrastructure and CI/CD for AI models
• Automate MLOps lifecycle: tracking, deployment, monitoring, retraining
• Design APIs, microservices, and orchestration for scalable apps
