Job summary

Hitachi, Ltd. is seeking an experienced Procurement IT Category Manager to lead sourcing of IT hardware, software, and services across our global organization.

You will develop category strategies and manage end-to-end procurement for complex IT projects. Collaborate with IT leadership, legal, and finance to align procurement with business objectives, drive cost savings, track KPIs, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive IT procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing in a large organization.
• Proven track record of negotiating and managing high-value IT contracts (hardware, software licenses, SaaS, professional services).
• Deep understanding of IT market dynamics, key vendors, and emerging technologies.
• Strong analytical, data interpretation, and business-case development skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., SAP Ariba) and advanced MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Certifications like CIPS, CSCP are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for IT hardware, software, and services.
• Lead end-to-end procurement for complex IT projects from requirements to contract negotiations.
• Collaborate with IT leadership, legal, and finance to understand business needs.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities and drive process improvements in IT procurement.
• Manage supplier relationships, conduct performance reviews, and drive continuous improvement.
• Monitor market trends and best practices to inform strategic decisions.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Develop and track KPIs for IT category spend and supplier performance.
