Job summary

As an E-commerce Accountant, you’ll manage revenue across Shopify, Amazon, and other channels, reconcile payouts, control inventory and COGS, and support month-end close with US founders and finance leads.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of accounting for online brands (D2C/CPG).
• Strong grasp of accrual accounting, revenue recognition, inventory, and COGS.
• Ability to reconcile high-volume data across platforms and tie to GL.
• Excellent English communication with US founders and teams.

Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile revenue from Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop, wholesale and retail channels.
• Reconcile settlements from Shopify Payments, Stripe, PayPal, and Amazon to bank deposits and GL.
• Maintain inventory records, track landed costs, reconcile with 3PLs and manufacturers, ensure correct COGS.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and balance sheet reconciliations for month-end close.
• Manage wholesale AR, retailer deductions, and track trade spend and promotions.
• Prepare financial statements, gross margin and channel profitability reports, support US founders with timely numbers.

What You'll Own

• Sales Channel Accounting: Record and reconcile revenue from Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop, wholesale, and retail channels, including fees, refunds, chargebacks, and discounts.
• Payout Reconciliations: Reconcile settlements from Shopify Payments, Stripe, PayPal, and Amazon to bank deposits and the general ledger.
• Inventory & COGS: Maintain inventory records, track landed costs (freight, duties, and fees to bring goods in), reconcile with 3PLs (third-party logistics/fulfillment providers) and manufacturers, and make sure COGS is recorded accurately.
• Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and balance sheet reconciliations for a timely, accurate close.
• Retail & Wholesale Accounting: Manage wholesale AR and retailer deductions, and track trade spend and promotions where applicable.
• Reporting & Insights: Prepare financial statements, gross margin and channel profitability reports, and support US founders and finance leads with clear, timely numbers.

What We're Looking For

• E-commerce or CPG accounting experience: 4+ years of accounting for online brands, D2C companies, retail, or consumer product businesses.
• Strong accounting fundamentals: A solid grasp of accrual accounting, revenue recognition, inventory, and COGS.
• Reconciliation skills: Able to work through high-volume transaction data from multiple platforms and tie it back accurately.
• Ownership and problem-solving: Able to manage the close independently and resolve discrepancies without close supervision.
• Strong English communication: Comfortable working directly with US founders, operators, and finance teams.

Good to Have

• Experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero, or NetSuite.
• Familiarity with A2X, Link My Books, or similar e-commerce accounting connectors.
• Experience with inventory tools like Cin7, Inventory Planner, or ShipBob.
• Exposure to US sales tax tools such as Avalara or TaxJar.
