MAVI is seeking an experienced Head of Accounting to own the accounting function end to end for US-based companies, covering accounting operations, financial reporting, close management, controls, and compliance.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on integrity of financial reporting, building the accounting function, and developing teams as you scale with the business.

Formación

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience leading accounting teams and functions.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Head of Accounting to own the accounting function end to end for US-based companies, covering accounting operations, financial reporting, close management, controls, and compliance.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can operate at both a strategic and detailed level. You will own the integrity of financial reporting while building the accounting function itself, setting standards, improving processes, managing stakeholders, supporting audits, and developing accounting teams.

You will work closely with US-based finance leaders and ensure that financial information is accurate, timely, compliant, and decision-ready.

What You'll Do

• Own the accounting function end to end, including the general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and close
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and hold the team to the close calendar
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial statements
• Ensure financial reporting is accurate and compliant with US GAAP
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports
• Define and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and close procedures
• Monitor balance sheet integrity and ensure outstanding issues are resolved
• Own the audit relationship, coordinate audit readiness, and manage external auditors
• Support tax, compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements
• Oversee multi-entity accounting, consolidations, and intercompany transactions where applicable
• Build scalable accounting processes and structure the function to support business growth
• Lead accounting system implementations, migrations, and automation initiatives
• Develop SOPs, accounting policies, and reporting standards
• Lead, review, mentor, and develop accounting team members, and shape how the team is structured as it scales
• Communicate financial risks, accounting issues, and recommendations to senior stakeholders
• Serve as the accounting point of authority for leadership on the implications of business decisions
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities when required

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience operating as a Head of Accounting, Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Director, or senior Accounting Manager
• Strong end-to-end knowledge of accounting operations and financial reporting
• Deep understanding of US GAAP
• Experience working with US-based companies, clients, or finance leaders
• Proven ownership of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
• Strong financial statement preparation and review experience
• Experience owning audits and working with external auditors
• Strong knowledge of internal controls and accounting policies
• Experience leading, managing, or reviewing the work of accounting teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to communicate complex accounting matters clearly
• Strong judgment, ownership, and attention to financial accuracy
• Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
• Experience with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Oracle, SAP, or similar ERPs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidations
• Experience with ERP implementations, migrations, or finance transformation initiatives
• Experience building or scaling an accounting function or team
• Experience supporting board, lender, or management reporting
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or FP&A collaboration
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA or equivalent accounting certification is strongly preferred
